I was here for a family reunion; we had for people in a fully furnished cabin in a beautiful state park. Nature was preserved and pristine, the lake was beautiful especially when it rained and the frogs were singing, and it was a wonderful time. The lake is rather small for renting a canoe or kayak, but they do rent them out for about $10/hour. We got a 2-how rental but it started raining right when we got on the water, and they were kind to give us a full refund! I very much enjoyed my stay here.
One of my favorite places! The foliage was beautiful and the hiking trails were wonderful! I highly recommend FDR as a weekend getaway and place to relax!
A lovely place to camp out. Plenty of comfort stations (bathrooms). The restrooms were always stocked with proper paper supplies and hand soap.
Great park. My wife and I have been bringing our children here every Thanksgiving holiday we can. I compare every park to FDR. For me and my family it's great. The town is also a get place to get out and shop.
This is such a beautiful and large park! I do not believe google Maps has the correct address, it brings you to a small parking lot in the park, but the registration building and gift shop are farther up the road a a few miles. There is many many hiking options, camping and look out points. The historic landmarks are an additional perk. The trails are well marked and clean. I'm surprised how underrated this park is considering how much there is to enjoy. There are not many options for food or grocery's nearby so be sure to bring what you need.
